WHAT IS EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE?

Emotional Freedom Technique is a holistic therapy treatment that has been successfully used to treat for physical pain and emotional distress for over 25 years.

Also called Tapping or Psychological Acupressure, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is similar to acupuncture (without needles) because it focuses on the body’s meridian points (or energy hotspots) to restore your body’s balance and energy.

EFT combines cognitive strategies (similar to those used in cognitive behavioural therapy) with tapping, which applies pressure to the body’s meridian systems.

HOW DOES EFT WORK?

EFT has been scientifically proven to rewire the brain by sending calming signals to the amygdala (the stress centre of the brain), which releases your body’s limitations from negative experiences, emotions, pain and thoughts that (often subconsciously) hold us back from creating the life that we desire.

EFT helps to restore your mind, body and emotions to a state of harmony and balance so that you are not limited by negative emotions from past trauma or loss.

WHAT DOES EFT TREAT?

EFT is especially helpful to those suffering from anxiety, depression, PTSD, chronic pain, stress, low self-esteem, weight issues, addiction, insomnia, trauma and loss.

Claire has a special emphasis on assisting nervous and previously-injured riders and their horses.

DOES EFT WORK?

There have been several studies conducted into the effectiveness of EFT for the treatment of anxiety and pain. A 2013 study randomly assigned Veterans clinically diagnosed with PTSD into two groups – those who received PTSD and those who received standard care. After 6 hour-long EFT coaching sessions, 90% of the EFT group no longer met PTSD clinical criteria (compared with 4% in the standard care group).

A 2016 review compared the effectiveness of EFT over standard care options for anxiety and concluded that “Emotional freedom technique treatment demonstrated a significant decrease in anxiety scores” compared to participants receiving other care.

HOW MANY EFT SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

Unlike many forms of therapy, the added advantage of EFT is that, after one or two sessions, you are able to continue your EFT program alone at home. However, for some chronic conditions and prolonged trauma you may continue to work with Claire on an ongoing basis.

In your initial consultation Claire will assess your short- and long-term goals and work out a program that suits both your wellness and budget requirements.
